

Beloved family man and friend Loreto Genaro Peña, 91, of Houston Texas, passed away July 2, 2019. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on December 10, 1927. Known by many of his friends as Jerry, he graduated from Brownsville High School and received an Associate's degree from Texas Southmost College. He was married to the love of his life, Lucila Rodriguez, on August 25, 1956.
Loreto Genaro (Jerry) spent 2 years in the U.S. Army in South Korea at the end of World War II and worked over 40 years in the field of distribution and logistics for Thermal Engineering and Carrier Air Conditioning. Jerry was a devoted member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Catholic Church, and assisted Father Martial with daily Mass. He was also an active member of the 50+ club at St. Matthew and participated in many events. He had a passion for all things Houston, Houston sports, such as the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, Houston Dynamo/Dash, University of Houston Cougars, Texas A&M University Aggies, Rice University Owls, and Texas Southern University Tigers.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lucila R. Peña, daughter, Belinda Y. Tovarez, (whose husband, Manuel, is deceased), and his son, Genaro J. Peña & wife Adriana. His grandchildren; Michael D. Tovarez and wife, Sara, Matthew S. Tovarez, Melissa Y. Tovarez, Genaro M. Peña, and Alejandro A. Peña, And his siblings; Amalia Burns, (whose husband, Bill, is deceased), Carmen Laubheimer and husband, George, and Gilberto Peña and his wife, Iris.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, July 6 2019, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9915 Hollister, Houston, Texas 77040
