Gone but never forgotten. Louis “T.C” was truly “self-made”, His work ethic and unwavering determination to succeed at anything showed he was a part of us who can never be replicated. A true Texas Cowboy at heart with a genuine love of rodeo life, the “finer things” with impeccable taste and a sense of humor that could revive your soul. He never hesitated to offer words of wisdom and guidance that for many of us helped us through some of our toughest days.
Louis Cummings, Jr., 74, of Houston, Texas, died at his home peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024. He was born in Calvert, Texas on July 9, 1950 to Louis Cummings, Sr. and Ruby Mae Jackson. Louis received his formal education in Calvert, Texas later moving to Houston to be closer to his mother Ruby. Louis was brought up by his grandparents Oliver and Shollot Jackson in Calvert, Texas.
Louis is survived by his siblings, Michael and Elaine Woods; his five children Patrick, Bernard, Renee, Kristin and Brittany; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his maternal aunts, Vertis “Cooter”, Jean (Ray) Brown; maternal uncle, Rudyne “O.B.” Jackson along with many more loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Louis was a long-time mentor to young Andre Hogan showing him the ropes of manhood ensuring he knew how to be “the best”! Louis and Andre quickly developed a father/son-like bond making them inseparable.
Everyone who knew Louis knew how much he developed a love for drag racing and fast cars later in life when he became unable to ride horses. Louis loved being in the fast lane and enjoyed working on his very own race car, a Chevrolet Malibu quickly rebuilding it from the “ground up” turning it into a lean mean racing machine.
Louis will always be remembered for his bold moves in life and his integrity. Louis has taught all that knew him how to achieve anything that we desire. If we set our mind to it and work hard, then the possibilities are endless. We’ll always imagine hearing him say, “love ya kid” and “if the lord sees the same “one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better patriarch and will miss Louis dearly every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Rest easy Cowboy.
