Born Louise Williams on December 16, 1935, to the late Samuel and Kate Williams. Louise grew up one of six children, in Greenwood, Louisiana. Louise met, fell in love with, and married Samuel Holt in 1955. Together they raised 7 children, while Louise ran a busy household.
She symbolized her dedication to Jehovah in 1958. Whether she answered to Louise, Sister Holt, or Big Mama, she was a strong, fiercely loyal, no-nonsense wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a wise, frank way of judging a situation and giving direct, practical advice that was often served up with her world-famous gumbo. Her dinner table was always plentifully laden with delicious meals and scrumptious desserts.
She loved to travel and try new restaurants. Louise was a “foodie” before it was fashionable. Although she enjoyed a break from the kitchen, her food was legendary. People often begged for her much treasured, secret recipes. When she wasn’t busy running a household, you could find her in field service or shopping.
Later in life, she took great joy in her grandchildren, caring for them and helping to raise them to be the adults they are today.
Louise always worked hard for her family and the ones she held dear. She was a strong woman, who spoke her mind, commanded respect, and lived with dignity and elegance. She will be missed more than she could ever know.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Samuel Holt (2018,) and sons, Harold (1993,) and Michael (2015.) She leaves to cherish her memory, children Clarence, Jerry (Lois,) Anthony, Rhnea, and Brenda (Brian,) numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends
