

On December 9, 2015, Lucille Ruth Evans went to be with her heavenly Father. She was born to Arnold and Annie Wuthrich on August 22, 1925 in Crescent Community of Wharton County, TX. In 1942, she graduated from Crescent High School and moved to Houston to attend Southwestern Business University. Upon completion, she began work at Goodyear. While there, a coworker asked if she would write a letter to her brother, James, who was in the Army Air Corps in Europe. She agreed. They first met when he returned from the war. They wed October 12, 1946 and resided in Galena Park, TX. raising three children. Lucille grew up in the Lutheran Church and her faith was always very important to her. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John’s Lutheran in Wharton. She later attended Peace Lutheran in Galena Park where she served as Sunday School Secretary, choir member and Walther League sponsor. After moving, from Galena Park, she became a member of Christ Lutheran in Houston and remained active in the choir and AAL. Additionally, she was involved in the Braille Ministry and enjoyed making Bibles for others to enjoy. Her greatest job was being a wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Franklin Evans, Sr. and daughter, Barbara Darling. She is survived by her children; son, James Evans, Jr. and wife Diana of East Hartland, CT., son, Russell Evans and wife Celeste of Deer Park, TX. and son-in-law, William Darling of Houston; grandchildren Brenda Bartell and husband Brent of Dallas, TX., Brooke Abby and husband Brian of Pearland, TX, Matt Evans and wife Ashley of Deer Park, Lauren Coughlin and husband Jeff of Montgomery, Brian Evans and wife Jherica of Seabrook, Jennifer Evans of Tempe, AZ, Kylee Melnysyn of Avon, CT and Shana Melnysyn of Ann Arbor, MI.; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Younger of Wharton, Brother, Arnold Wuthrich, Jr. and wife Lee of Wichita Falls, sister, Gertrude Strauss and husband Kenneth of Sugar Land and brother, Herbert Wuthrich and wife Eleanore of Texas City; 22 nieces and nephews and a multitude of extended family members and friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Advantage Howard Glendale Chapel 1015 Federal Rd. Houston from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church 800 Houston Ave Houston at 10:30am. Interment will follow in San Jacinto Memorial Park Houston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be in her name to Trinity Lutheran Mighty Acts Campaign or the charity of your choice.
