Lucy Vela-Barnes

Lucy was a bright, tenacious soul who gave to everyone in her life and who loved deeply and unconditionally. She had a beautiful servant heart and spent her entire life seeking after God’s own heart. Lucy spent close to 40 years working full time in software support and computer programming. She loved gardening, baking, sewing, crafting, cycling and spending time with her siblings, children, grandchildren, and church family. She was a longtime Astros fan and also loved cheering on the UH Cougars. Lucy logged hundreds of miles on her bike riding and training with her Traveling Light Christian Cycling Team. She was an extremely gifted seamstress who brought joy and comfort to so many through her beautiful custom creations. She made countless baby gift sets for so many growing families and also enjoyed making dog blankets, beds and playmats for her and her families’ furbabies. Lucy is survived by her daughters Monica, Erika, and Veronica; grandchildren Oliver, Jameson and Alexandra; and by her siblings Yolanda, Salvador, Homero, and Dalio. Lucy will be tremendously missed by her family and many friends. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
