

Ludma Schmalz-Wells, 90, passed away peacefully December 13, 2012 in Conroe. Lou is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Anna Kovar, her husbands Edward Lee Roy Schmalz and Grant Edward Wells, her son Edward Lee Roy Schmalz, Jr, her daughter Edith Faye Schmalz and all her sisters and brothers.
Lou was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest passion was her family and her most enduring legacy is the love and dedication she gave to her family. She is survived by her children Leota and Franklin Rice of Conroe, Ty Schmalz of Houston, Royce and Vicki Schmalz of Springfield, VA, her grandchildren Danna Rice of Houston, Darrin and Julie Rice of Conroe, Dawn and Frank Davis of Conroe, Darrell and Brenda Rice of Conroe, Kersten and Joe Raso of Newton, MA, Kristopher Schmalz of Houston, Caroline and Michael Sylvester of Conroe, Kyle Schmalz of Springfield, VA, Eddy Schmalz of Houston, and Jill and Eric Dorris of Austin and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to raising her children, Lou found time to be a librarian in the city of Houston. Lou loved sports, especially watching her family participate in a wide variety of sports. She was also a very loyal fan of her hometown Astros.
A special thank you to the nurses at Heritage Oaks in Conroe, who took such loving care of Lou. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at South Park Cemetery, 1301 North Main Street, Pearland, Tx 77581.
