

Luz was born November 12, 1957, in Barrancabermeja, Colombia to Gerardo and Martha Serrano. She spent most of her childhood in the The Bronx, New York, before returning to Colombia and then moved to Houston in 1979. She spent over 15 years in the banking industry and other administrative jobs including finding her dream job supporting the four owners of an aviation company - Air Routing. It was at this company that she would find her soulmate, John Legh-Page.
Luz was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John. She leaves behind her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Yanin and Justin Smith of Houston, Texas; stepchildren Sherry (spouse Mark) Wisdom of Punta Gorda, Florida, Nadine (Tim) Farquer of Williamsfield, Illinois, and Jahn (Kim) Legh-Page of Shingle Springs, California; grandchildren Liliana Smith, Austin Wisdom, Alex Wisdom, Ben Farquer, Olivia Farquer, Cade Farquer, and Accalia Legh-Page. Luz is also survived by her sisters Patricia (Paul) LeBlanc and Pilar Brentari; brother Edgar Serrano; nieces Dayna Brentari, Lindsey Brentari, and Isabella LeBlanc; nephews Daniel (Sydney) Serrano and Nathan Serrano; plus, a host of cousins, family, and friends.
Luz was an avid reader and had an extremely sharp wit. She was blessed with the gift of being the baby whisperer which made her the ultimate grandma or aunt to every child she met. Her hobbies included shopping at Costco, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx, cleaning (especially ironing), and traveling the world with her husband.
Her family would like to thank all the staff at Village on the Park and Rebecca Larsen with Aspire Hospice for their compassionate care of Luz.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Luz will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. Informal reception to immediately follow.
The family encourages donations in memory of Luz to be to the Alzheimer's Association.
