Maida was born in Yoakum, Texas, August 11, 1925. At the age of six, her family moved to the Houston Heights after a tragic house fire.
She graduated from Reagan High School in 1943, and was proud to be the captain of the basketball team. Maida was fun-loving and enjoyed being around people and caring for others. She was active in her children’s schools and was a well-known volunteer. In earlier years, she was “Pockets” the fun-clown, hosting children’s birthday parties and entertaining disabled children. She frequented nursing homes, “just to visit” with residents. Later, Maida was employed as “Hostess” of Grandy’s Restaurant, a job which she truly loved. She said her family was the most important thing in her life, and she made a positive impact on many people.
Maida is survived by her loving husband of almost 70 years, William R. Zwick- their son, William David Zwick (wife, Glenda) of Sour Lake, daughters, Rebecca Zwick Mouser (husband, Ronald), and Nancy Zwick Brown (husband, Rex), all of Houston. Other survivors are her grandchildren: Rhonda Plezia (husband, Richard), Robert Mouser, Lamar Brown (wife, Amanda), Alex Brown, Angela Turk (husband, Doug), and Autumn Epps (husband, Morgan). There are eleven cherished great-grandchildren.... Emilee Plezia, Elizabeth Plezia, Eva Plezia, Ella Louise Plezia, Ryan Mouser, Ronnie Mouser, Maggie Turk, Eddie Turk, Maddison Brown, Mackenzie Brown, and Paige Brown.
Special appreciation and thanks to our devoted home caregivers, Geraldine WIlson, Ruth Plum, Sherry Morton, and the caring staff of Harbor Hospice.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that any love offering or donation be made in Maida’s name to Harbor Hospice, Baytown, Texas.
