

Margaret Ree Hines Ash “Sista”
Margaret Ree Hines Ash, affectionately known as “First Lady” or “Sista,” was born on July 11, 1941, to Warren and Myrtle Lee Hines in Cleveland, Texas. She was baptized at a tender age. Margaret grew up surrounded by a community that cherished faith and fellowship. Margaret was a proud graded of the 1959 class of Douglas High School. Later she moved to Houston an married the love of her life and from that union they had a baby girl. She became the First Lady of Galilee Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas. Before she became a Pastors wife, she joined Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor W. Leo Daniels. She was also affiliated with Shining Star in the Heights, under the leadership of the late Pastor Bailey. Later in the early 80’s, she moved her membership closer to home and joined Fontaine First Baptist Church. She was a Faithful member and Tither until her health failed her.
She began her career in Cosmetology at Espinoza Beauty College. Later in life, she received her certification in Phlebotomist from HCC. Her career path took her to becoming a Beautician for over 55 years. She finally decided to retire in December of 2019. She loved making people look and feel beautiful about themselves.
Margaret's unwavering faith remained a source of strength and comfort until her final days, and inspiring those around her. Her dedication to her loved ones and admiration for Pastor Brown and Pastor and Lady Claiborne, Jr.
On August 31, 2024, at 3:55a.m., Sista peacefully answered the heavenly call to rest. She is now reunited with her parents, Warren and Myrtle Lee Hines; siblings: Icella M. Hines, Dency Jones, Willie Lee, Vernon, Robert D. Hines, Thelma Lee Hines and her sister-in-love Rosie Hines in eternal peace.
Margaret memories will be forever cherished by her extensive family. Including her one & only loving daughter Inga M. Ash, her brothers; George Hines and Rev. Charles Hines; Sister-in-love Margaret Hines, Nieces and Nephews; Felicia Hines of California, Amanda G. Hines, Christopher Hines (Demekia), Horatio Hines and James Gray (Phay). Her Great Nieces and Nephews; Jayvion, Payton, Mia, Alijah (Peanut), and Azaiah (Doc) was her heart. Several Godchildren, Great-Great Nieces, Nephews. Mom had several Bonus children and grandchildren from another mother. A host of cousins, neighbors, friends and co-workers she loved dearly.
Margaret’s life was a true testament to her Faith, Strength and boundless capacity for love. Her legacy will live on through her loved ones.
