Margaret McLeod Cooke

Margaret McLeod Cooke, age 90, of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Margaret was born in Opelousas, Louisiana.

She was a realtor in Houston for many years and a Duplicate Bridge Life Master. She was surrounded by a large extended family from Louisiana to Texas and beyond. Margaret was a great friend and enjoyed a rich social life. She was devoted to her children and their families. She loved to dance and have fun.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Christine Cooke Gillett (Michael Gillett); son John L. Cooke (Mona Conner); sister-in-law Sue McLeod; grandson Michael B. Gillett (Allison Gillett), granddaughter Kimberly Gillett Eye (Jacob Eye), great grandchild Brianna Eye, great grandson Clayton Mathew Eye, great grandson Nolan Michael Eye, grandson Mathew Ryan Morris, granddaughter Lara Morris Archibald (Matt Archibald), great granddaughter Eliana Archibald, great granddaughter Adeline Archibald, great granddaughter Samantha Jordan, grandson John Laurence Cooke and grandson Andrew Leighton Cooke. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father Leighton Douglas McLeod; mother Margaret Sawyer McLeod brother Leighton Donald McLeod, and daughter Lynne Cooke Morris (Donald Morris).

She shared her life with John A. MacLeod for many years. She considered Scott and Amy MacLeod and their children Grace MacLeod and Faith MacLeod as family.

A memorial service for Margaret will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 5308 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77005.
