

She worked at Frito Lay while she studied cosmetology at Lydia of Houston Beauty College. In 1977, she opened her beauty shop, The Golden Comb Hair Styling and worked there until she retired at 80 yrs old. She was well known and loved in the community. She sponsored several Denver Harbor Park little league teams and volunteered at the Resurrection Catholic Church bazaar cutting hair. She will be missed.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Rigoberto Gonzalez; son, Rene Gonzalez; granddaughter, Melissa A. Nichols; and great grandson, Zachary Miller.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (& Don) Linnell; Maria Elva (& Joe) Gongora; Ruth Victoria Gonzalez; Lucina Gonzalez; and Leticia (& Bill) Smallwood; grandchildren, Felix Edward Rabago; Jennifer Lynn (& Jamie) Price; and Veronica (& Nikki) Saukaum; great grandchildren Ashley Nicole (& Derrick) Keaton; Brittany Brianna Nichols; Alyssa Marie Nichols; Genevieve Saukaum; Juliette Saukaum; great great grandchildren Ethan Miller; Rilee Miller; Jett Keaton; Sawyer Keaton; Jordan Keaton; Koa Keaton; Ethan Miller and Rilee Miller.
A visitation will be held on August 9, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, located at 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
The funeral service will take place on August 9, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location.
Following the funeral, a committal service will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, also located at 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
