Maricela Sanchez

Maricela Valdez Sanchez, age 61 passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Maricela was born on June 28, 1961, in Houston, Texas, daughter of the late Francisco and Lilia (Guerrero) Valdez.

Maricela is survived by her daughters, Melissa Sanchez and Nichole Sanchez (Eric Flores); grandchildren, Clarissa, Elias, Lyliana, Adelbert, and Amelia; sisters, Rosemary Saenz, Norma Valdez and brother Frank Valdez, Jr. (Aida); nephew Frank Saenz (Kimberly), and daughters, Mikaela, Arianna, and Celeste; and nephews Victor, Adrian, Frank, and Andrew. She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Lilia and her son Adelbert Nicholas.

Maricela in her youth enjoyed horseback riding. She graduated from Austin High School in Houston. She held various positions throughout her life working at Metro Transit Authority as well as several banks including Prosperity Bank. She most recently worked at Harris County. Maricela enjoyed playing softball, spending time with family, friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a generous individual who gave of her time for her parents. She enjoyed collecting Harley Davidson items.

She will be dearly missed by her brother and sisters and everyone.
