

Mark gave his life to Christ at an early age at Southside First Baptist Church.
Mark graduated from Southeast High School in 1974. After graduation, he attended Central Missouri State University (CMSU) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
After college, Mark began his career working with troubled youth, but eventually moved on to work with the City of Houston in the Legal Department, Property Section. Mark worked for the City of Houston for 34 years.
Mark met his wife, Lenita, while attending Central Missouri State University where they dated and later married in 1996. Their bond lasted for a total of 35 years with 27 of these years being in marriage. Mark truly loved life and living life to the fullest. Upon retirement, Mark eagerly began exploring his love for travel. He took cruises, planned and attended golf trips with his golf buddies, attended jazz concerts and took epic road trips. Mark enjoyed traveling to and exploring countries that as he put it, “I have to go to them, because they won’t come to me.” A witty free spirit with a personality that would light up a room, Mark touched so many lives on his journey.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Anna Simpson along with his sisters Grace Gooden and Courtney Ray. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Lenita; Sisters Gail Rowles and Marsha Young; Brothers John Larry Williams (Vicki) and Frank Smith (Alicia Gayle). Mark also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends to cherish his memories along with his lifelong special friend/brother Barry” Pete” Counts (Debra).
