

Linda was born and raised in Rio Grande City, Texas. She was the youngest of four daughters to Raul E. Pena and Martha R. Pena. Linda graduated from Rio Grande City High School in 1967. Linda married Romeo Chapa Sr. and they had three children, Romeo Chapa II, Daniel "Danny" Chapa, and Ricardo "Rick" Chapa. During their marriage the family resided in Abilene, Texas, Torrejon Air Force Base in Spain, and Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Raul and Martha Pena, older sisters, Teodora "Tita" Esquivel, and Josephina "Josie" Knight and Henry.
Linda is survived by her sons, Romeo Chapa II and Lisa, Danny Chapa and Delilah, Rick Chapa and sister, Anita Hammond. Grandchildren, Carla Leal-Ferreyra and Daniel, Ricky Chapa and Julia, Sophia Chapa, Deserai Calderon and Edwin, Great-Grandchildren, Ramiro Garcia, Darla Garcia, Julian Calderon, Santiago Calderon, Melanie Ferreyra, Madelyn Ferreyra and Mathias Ferreyra.
In 1980, Linda moved to Houston Texas with her three sons to embark on a new chapter in her life. Previously a homemaker, she ventured out into the workplace landing her first job with SERJobs for Progress. In time, Linda acquired a position in the accounts payable department for British Petroleum. Later, Linda continued to work in a similar capacity for the accounting firm Arthur Anderson and Accenture prior to her retirement.
