Martha Rodriguez

Martha “Martita” Rodriguez, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on November 16, 1930.

Martha was a faithful servant of our Lord. She was a pillar of Holy Name Catholic Church where she was an active member and minister of the church, which she loved so much. She worked tirelessly for the betterment of Holy Name. She was in the Altar Society, the Guadalupanas, and worked the cafeteria serving breakfasts after masses. When Martha was not at home, you could always find her at her second home, Holy Name. She was a parishioner for over 60 years and refused to move because she loved the Holy Name community.

Because of her community involvement, Martha was asked to be an advisor to the Casa de Amigos Council.

At one time, Martha was known as the “Avon lady”, and was on the President’s Club for being a top seller.

Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband Francisco “Pancho” Rodriguez.

She loved her children so much and is lovingly survived by Patricia Delgado (Dwayne), Francisco Rodriguez (Maria), Maria Castro (Sergio), and Jose Rodriguez; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She will be so missed by everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 1920 Marion St., Houston, TX 77009 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 10:00 am at Holy Name followed by a funeral procession to Forest Park Westheimer, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.

A reception will be held at Holy Name at 2:30 pm.

Martha “Martita” Rodríguez, 93 años, querida madre, abuela, bisabuela, tatarabuela y amiga, falleció pacíficamente mientras dormía en su casa el jueves 24 de octubre de 2024. Nació en Monterrey, Nuevo León , México, el 16 de noviembre de 1930.

Marta fue una fiel sierva de nuestro Señor. Ella era un pilar de la Iglesia Católica de Holy Name, donde era miembro activo y ministra de la iglesia, que tanto amaba. Trabajó incansablemente por el mejoramiento de Holy Name. Estuvo en la Sociedad del Altar, las Guadalupanas, y trabajaba en la cafetería sirviendo desayunos después de misas. Cuando Marta no estaba en casa, siempre podías encontrarla en su segundo hogar, Holy Name. Fue feligresa durante más de 60 años y se negó a mudarse porque amaba la comunidad de Holy Name.

Debido a su participación comunitaria, a Martha se le pidió que fuera asesora del Consejo de Casa de Amigos.

Hubo un tiempo en que Martha era conocida como la "dama Avon" y estaba en el President's Club por ser una de las más vendidas.

A Martha le precedió en la muerte su amado esposo Francisco “Pancho” Rodríguez.

Amaba mucho a sus hijos y le sobreviven con amor Patricia Delgado (Dwayne), Francisco Rodríguez (María), María Castro (Sergio) y José Rodríguez; 10 nietos, 7 bisnietos y 1 tataranieto.

Todos los que la conocieron la extrañarán mucho.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el martes 29 de octubre en la Iglesia Católica Holy Name, 1920 Marion St., Houston, TX 77009 de 6:00 a 10:00 pm con un rosario a las 7:00 pm. Se llevará a cabo una misa fúnebre el miércoles 30 de octubre a las 10:00 am en Holy Name seguida de una procesión fúnebre hasta Forest Park Westheimer, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.

Se llevará a cabo una recepción en Holy Name a las 2:30 pm.
