Marvin Ernest Chernosky, Jr. died unexpectedly on Sunday the 23rd of 2022, after a short illness. He was born on the 15th of October 1957, to Marvin Ernest Chernosky, M.D. and Bonnie Bertrand Chernosky in Houston, Texas.
Marvin graduated from The Kinkaid School in Houston and earned his Bachelors of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 1983. He practiced banking and real estate law for 38 years, the last 27 years as a partner with Chernosky, Smith, Ressling & Smith.
Marvin was a life-long member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, where he served as a member of the Vestry, usher, lay reader, and chalice bearer. He was passionate about community outreach and devoted much of his time to the Open Door Mission, where he served on the Board and as its Chairman. Marvin also devoted his time to Aeros Charities, where he combined his love of service and hockey.
In the words of The Reverend Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Jr., Marvin lived his life "full throttle." He loved being outdoors - hiking, fishing, snow skiing, and water skiing. He enjoyed spending time in the Texas Hill Country, especially at Lake Travis. His passion for dancing led him to his disco partner and love of his life, Debbie. Marvin and Debbie were married on the 17th of December 1983, and were blessed with two children, Matt and Kate. Family was an integral part of Marvin's life, and he took great pleasure in planning family vacations. No matter the destination, he always wore Hawaiian shirts or Aggie gear!
Marvin was predeceased by his father, Marvin Ernest Chernosky, M.D., and mother, Bonnie Bertrand Chernosky. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debra L. Chernosky, M.D.; step-mother, Jean Hancock Chernosky; son, Matt Chernosky and his wife Kim; daughter, Kate Chernosky and her fiancé Alex Barclay; brother, Jay Chernosky and his wife Melinda; sisters, Susan Hancock and her husband Ken and Ellen Chernosky Tippetts and her husband David; brother-in-law, Doug Jordan and his wife Linda; nephews, Tommy Chernosky and his wife Lindsay, Doug Hancock and his wife Brittney, Scott Hancock and his wife Chasity, John Luke Tippetts, Sam Tippetts, and Hunter Jordan; nieces, Ellie Chernosky Johnson and her husband Eric, Skylar Tippetts, and Haley Jordan.
