

Mary was born on December 20, 1946 in Ipetumodu, Osun State, Nigeria to Joseph and Susainah Osuntoogun. She attended Catholic Technical College in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. She married Ademola Egbetola on March 7, 1971 with whom she had five children. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1974 where she obtained an Associate degree in Applied Science in Business Management from Houston Community College in May 1980.
Mary worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Autumn Hills for several years, which suited her servant heart. She later went to work at Alief ISD where she would often encourage others by reminding them to: “Do what’s right”, “Do what’s good” and “Be kind and help others”. Throughout the years, she coupled her CNA skills with her entrepreneurship desires and led a successful business with Avon.
In addition, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was gracious, loving, and selfless in juggling these roles. Her loved ones are proud of all her accomplishments and her children are proud to call her mommy.
Mary was a devout Christian, that loved to worship and praise God. She was faithful in daily prayer and would light up when spreading God’s word. Her sweet and simple demeanor won the trust and hearts of many. Her gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter will never be forgotten. She was a lovely beacon of light and will be deeply missed.
Her life exemplified one of her favorite Bible scripture, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Mary is remembered by her husband Ademola Egbetola; her children, Oluwabukola (Segun) Ogunlana of Mesquite, Texas, Babatunde (Omolayo) Egbetola of Houston, Texas, Abiola (Nece) Egbetola of Houston, Texas, Ayodele (Amber) Egbetola of Houston, Texas, and Ajoke Egbetola of Houston, Texas; one brother, Johnson (Dayo) Osuntoogun of Osun State, Nigeria and two sisters, Emily Amiola of Osun State, Nigeria, and Shade (Bayo) Odelola of Osun State, Nigeria; her grandchildren Matthew Ogunlana, Toreolu Egbetola, and Olumito Egbetola.
Preceded in death by her parents Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Susainah Osuntoogun, and brother Olubisi Osuntoogun.
