

Mary Louise Brewer Sobotik, age 87, passed away on November 12, 2012. Born July 28, 1925 in Wills Point, Texas. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother, and her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Eddie Sobotik and her daughter, Eddie Sue Gilbert. Mary is survived by her daughters: Carolyn Richmond and husband Bruce, Sharon Chude and husband Charles, Janice Watts and husband Vaughn, Debbie Sowin, and son Jeff Sobotik. Nine grandchildren survive: Trey Watts and wife Wanissa, Nathan Watts, Emilie Watts, Kristen Caplan and husband Marshall, Karl Chude, Neil Gilbert and wife Martha, Jennifer Nortin and husband Bryan, Amy Sowin, and Matthew Sowin. Six great-grandchildren: Cooper Watts, Ryleigh Watts, Sue Gilbert, Elijah Gilbert, Nicole Gilbert, and Leilah Gilbert. She is also survived by brother-in-law Milton Sobotik and wife Rose, and sisters-in-law Margaret Swonke and Marie Keys, and numerous nieces and nephews. At age 9, she was placed in Boles Orphan Home, along with her sister. She met her future husband while working at Weingarten in Houston. Living most of her life in the Heights, she enjoyed her trips to Louisiana, playing bridge for over 50 years, and being with her family. As a loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend, she will be missed by all of us. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited in the Main Chapel at Pat H. Foley, 1200 West 34th Street. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery with her grandsons and her son Jeff being the pallbearers.
