Mrs. Mary Kiibler Michels

Mary transitioned quickly and peacefully the evening of Thursday, November 17, 2022. Her light of loving kindness will be missed by family, friends and staff at Clarewood House alike.

Predeceased by her husband. Joseph C. Michels, Jr. and her son Dennis J. Michels, Mary is survived by her siblings Corrine Kiibler Dum and Joseph D. Kiibler Jr.; her children Timothy I. Michels (Wanda); Pamela A. Michels Uschak (Stephen); James I. Michels (Lynne); and Margaret H. Michels Christy (Ian) and a number of grandchildren [Aaron (Jessica), Alicia (Ron), Mary (Kevin), Hannah (Crispin), Sarah (Erik), Michael (Kimberly), Ansel, Johnsie, Elizabeth (Ken) and Jason] plus great-grandchildren (12 so far: 10 boys and 2 girls!), as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews. She will be missed dearly for her laugh, her secret mischievous sense of fun, her card-shark abilities and her willingness to play any game. Her religious conviction saw her through life’s many trials, and her deep appreciation for family, traditions and a sip of Irish coffee helped her celebrate the many joys of her life.

You are invited to send her on her journey with prayers and blessings. A celebration of her life is planned for Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Advantage Funeral and Cremation (7010 Chetwood Dr.) from 5:00-8:00pm. The Rosary will be at 6:00pm, then the Liturgical Vigil at 6:30pm, followed by shared memories of Mary’s life. Light refreshments will be available afterwards.

Mass will be held Friday at 10:30am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on 8200 Roos Road, Houston. Immediately following the service, all are invited to a graveside internment at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 6900 Lawndale, Houston.
