

We celebrate the life of Mary Lamar Miramontes, who we knew as just Lamar, a woman full of heart, laughter, and strength who went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2025. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on March 3, 1944, Mary Lamar lived her life with faith, love, and purpose.
She was married to her lifelong partner and best friend, Donato (Jacobo) Miramontes, for 44 years.
Mary Lamar worked as a Health Educator for De Madres a Madres for 13 years, helping and guiding pregnant teens across Houston. Her kindness and dedication earned her recognition from the Mayor of Houston as Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding community work.
A tomboy and a free spirit at heart, Mary Lamar did what she wanted and lived life on her own terms. She loved playing softball, sewing, arts and crafts, dancing, music, and traveling, especially her dream trip to Paris. But nothing brought her more joy than her family. She adored her sons, nieces, nephews, and everyone lucky enough to be part of her circle.
She is survived by her loving husband Donato (Jacobo), her sons Frank (Lucero), Darrel (Daisy), and Gabriel (Carmen), and her grandchildren Frank M. Gonzales Jr. (Sylvia), Tony “Ozzy” Gonzales (Vanessa), Edward “Sunny” Gonzales, Randy Gonzales, Gabriel Gonzales Jr., and Amanda Gonzales. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren who filled her life with joy and laughter.
Mary Lamar is also survived by her siblings Arturo (the late Sylvia) Rodriguez, Alicia (Omar) Guerrero, and Louis (Kelle) Rodriguez, her brother-in-law Elias J. Escobedo Jr.. She was preceded in death by her parents Ignacio Rodriguez and Ernestina Muñoz, and her sister Amelia Escobedo.
Mary Lamar will always be remembered for her strength, sense of humor, giving heart, and free spirit. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
