Mary Louise Pierce

Mary Louise Pierce, age 81, passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 26, 2011 at her Houston home. She was born on July 25. 1929 and grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She later moved to El Paso, Texas for about eight years and made Houston, Texas her final home. Mary was recently diagnosed with vascular dementia and died of an aggressive, advanced cancer. She is survived by her faithful, loving husband, Douglas Pierce, daughter, Susie Pierce of Austin, Texas, (eldest son, Craig Pierce who is deceased), son, Scott and wife Doris Pierce of Houston, Texas and five grandchildren: Alli Pierce 21 of Austin, Texas and Leslie 19, Brooke 18, Andrew 15 and Paige Pierce 5 of Houston, Texas. Mary was an ardent believer in “getting a college education” and made sure her children received undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Texas-Austin and Texas State University-San Marcos. She loved her plants, gardening, and favorite sea shelling place was Sanibel Island. Popular or not, she often spoke her mind. “I just tell it like it is.” The final resting place for Mary Pierce is Forest Park Westheimer Cemetary in Houston, Texas. Mary will be missed by all of her family and friends that loved her so very much. There will be a visitation held at Forest Park Westheimer on Tues. 3/29 from 5-8PM and a funeral service at Memorial Dr. Lutheran Church 12211 Memorial Dr. on Wed. at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
