

Mary Ann Cutrupia Romano passed away on the 28th of October 2011, surrounded by her children. Mary Ann was born on the 21st of October 1934 in Houston to Ann and John Joseph Cutrupia. She attended Holy Name School and graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in 1953. Mary Ann was wed to Noxie M. Romano, Jr. on the 5th of July 1954, to whom she was married for 50 years.
Mary Ann loved to be with her family; especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, the slots, puzzles, and cards. She was a fantastic cook! Her special time of the year was Christmas and all that went into the celebration of the birth of Jesus: ornaments, decorating, cookies, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. Mary Ann was a devout Catholic and practiced her faith throughout her life.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband; her mother, Ann Triola Pizzitola and her husband John; her father, John Joseph Cutrupia, Sr. and his wife Josephine; her brother, John Joseph Cutrupia, Jr.; and her son in law, Daniel Johnson.
She is survived by sons, Anthony Romano Sr. and his wife Vangie, Noxie Romano III and his wife Janet, John Romano Sr., Samuel Romano Sr. and his wife Lisa, and Louis Romano and his wife Becky; her daughters, Mary and her husband Bill Wojtasczyk, Jr., Ann and her husband Don Nye, Diana Romano-Johnson; her grandchildren, Tony Romano Jr. and his wife Irene, Dominic Romano and his wife Jennifer, Cara Romano, Noxie Romano IV and his wife Angela, Timothy Romano and his wife Alana, Laurel Romano, John Romano Jr. and his wife Alex Rose; Elise and Linsey Wojtasczyk, Ciro Samperi and Mary Ann Chacon, Elizabeth and Scott Johnson, Samuel Romano Jr. and his wife Nicki, Nickolas Romano and his wife Nora, Matthew Romano, Michael and Gabriela Romano; Donovan Nye and his wife Laura, Tara Huntress and her husband Granger, and Edward and Mandy Salazar. She was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Jeanette Cassata and her husband John, Roxanne Mancuso and her husband Joe; her brother Charles Pizzitola; and her very special friends, Rose Marie Sacco, Antoinette Patronella, Vita Ann Palermo, and Judy Wilson.
Mary Ann’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff at The Methodist Hospital, Dr. Magdy Tadros, Evercare Hospice, Kindred Hospital and Sharon Gersch.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from two o’clock this afternoon until seven o’clock this evening, Sunday, the 30th of October, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at three o’clock, led by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart. A second recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at six o’clock, led by Deacon John Murrell.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 31st of October, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman Street in Houston, where Bishop Vincent M. Rizzotto and Msgr. James Anderson are to concelebrate. Honored to serve as pall bearers during the services are her grandsons, and serving as honorary pall bearers are cousins John Anthony Raia, Joseph Charles Colonnetta, Tommy Colonnetta, Dr. Gerry Romano, and Frank Crapitto.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby West Hall.
Rite of Committal is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Mrs. Romano’s name be directed to Incarnate Word Academy, 609 Crawford Street, Houston, TX, 77002; or to the Catholic charity of one’s choice.
