Matilde T Hernandez

She loved puzzle books, sewing, and enjoyed playing BINGO. She loved watching the Hallmark Channel and was a true die-hard ABC13 viewer for the local news. She was a very religious woman who had a strong unwavering belief in her faith. Her family was everything to her, she was always worried about their health and well being. She was truly loved and adored by her family and by everyone who was blessed with the opportunity to meet her. She became everyone's "Ama" as they came to know her.

She is survived by her children Robert Hernandez, David Hernandez (Ramon Araiza), and Louisa Gonzales (Ernie Gonzales).

She is predeceased in death by her husband Santos Hernandez, her daughter Mary T Garcia, son Santos T. Hernandez, son in law Juan M. Garcia, granddaughters Lisa Garcia, Sonia Garcia-Torres, and grandsons Christopher and Andy Hernandez.

Visitation will be held on February 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, located at 4136 Broadway St, Houston, TX 77087. A Prayer Service will also take place on the same day at the same venue, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on February 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. Philip of Jesus Catholic Church, 9700 Villita St, Houston, TX 77013. Following the funeral, a Committal Service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Matilde will be remembered for her kind spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
