They owned 100 plus acres with cows, horses, plows etc before the 30's. Very successful. Mattie was the baby girl of 14 kids, (whom has all preceded her in death). She was really spoiled. Her girly ways lead her to Houston were she met Joseph Lee Stelly. Mattie loved, loved, loved (one more time) loved Lee Stelly. They both managed to raised her children Annette, Lisa, Glen, Lonnie and Donnie. Mattie better known as Moma, Mother, Ms Stelly, Aunt Mattie and Auntie loved everyone.
She leaves behind a multitude of loving grandkids, one deceased grandson (Lonnie Jr.) and many great grandchildren.
She knew and loved God. She's alway had him in her heart. She loved to be around people to dance work in her flower garden, grow vegetables and have fun, but before having fun she always had a habit of restricting herself by saying "I'm not going"; we all knew that would change with giving her more time. There was nothing you could do for her, because she was and wanted to be in control; sick or not as she would say "I'm fine". Growing up with her... was to know if she was upset, somehow within her power you would end up knowing. Mattie not only loved Lee, but she loved life and everything about the creole music, food, and family.
Mattie passed peacefully on August 8 2025, still in somewhat control, "I'm fine". Mattie loved all of her family and friends abundantly and we love YOU with all our hearts R.I.P.
