

Mavis Price Jackson, 101, passed into eternal rest on June 23, 2021. She was born May 18, 1920 in the community of Rock Island, Texas to Bertie and Maude Wilson, one of four daughters. She lived a charmed life as the daughter of a popular peddler of produce, that he had raised. Mavis attended Corrigan High School and went on to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She held the position of Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a member of Daughters of the Nile, Social Order of the Beauceant and First Baptist Church of Magnolia. Cooking, quilting, playing games and dancing were her passions.
Mavis is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Carl Price, second husband Howard Jackson, son Ernest Ray Price, grandson John Arlan Price, and sisters: Loree Hooper, Mary Lee White, Lillian Wilson.
Left to cherish her memories are daughter Maureen Almon, son James W. Price and his wife Elmerette, grandchildren : Carl R. Price, Sherrell Cothran, Kathy Lewey, Johnny and Kenneth Price, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to give special thanks to Orchard Park at Victory Lakes, Essentials Hospice and special friend and caregiver Cindy Martinez for all their loving care of Mavis.
Family and friends will gather for services on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning promptly at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery and Memorial Park.
