AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Meland Wong Ng
24 avril 1928 – 27 décembre 2020
Meland Wong Ng was a simple yet complex woman. Most notable, she was a great woman of God and raised her children knowing God at Chinese Baptist Church during our youth. Mom had a special relationship with each of her 4 children which was special to that one child. We are all 4 separate individuals and each represent a unique mom/child bond. She loved all her 4 children: Judy, Me (Valerie) and, of course, the wonderful twin boys- Kent, and Tom and his wife, Connie. Mom enjoyed her 3 grandchildren –Judy’s daughters, Melissa and Darcy along with Tom and Connie’s son, Winston. She spent limited time with the grandchildren and cherished and loved the times they shared. After all, it’s the quality time together, rather than the quantity of time that is important. She was a self-made woman and helped run a grocery store, Eastland Super Market, in NE Houston, TX with her hubby (our Dad) Homer Ng, and Uncle - Sam Chew. They ran the business successfully for many years, then sold it and retired. Unable to sit still, she began a 2nd career as Clerical Support at the Texas Workforce Commission retiring in 2006. Meland enjoyed trying new restaurants and eating out with the family, attending Church, shopping, and watching Disney movies – she especially loved the seasonal Peanuts Holiday shows of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But she mostly enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. Her faith was strong and she accepted Christ as her Savior many years ago; and, she made sure her children followed in her footsteps. The family takes comfort in knowing she and Homer are together again for eternity along with all their other cherished loved ones already in Heaven. Meland’s sisters and brother and their families will continue the Wong family legacy – Mary Shem, Anna Chu and husband, Manuel, Elsie Lew, Lucille Lew, Eddie Wong and wife, Florence. Meland had her favorite munchies of Cheetos-Crunchy, Hot Tamales cinnamon candy, and Brach peppermints. So, if you would like - in lieu of the candy wrapped coin - have a snack of one of those munchies in her honor. Meland requested to be cremated with “only the immediate family” in attendance for a brief memorial service and internment at VA cemetery – her ashes will be placed in the same vault as her dear husband Homer. She requested no flowers; if you desire, please consider making a donation to the Chinese Baptist Church, your favorite church or community agency. Thanks for your prayers for calm and peaceful wishes for our family. Valerie Ng Joe and Family

Judy, Valerie, Kent, Tom -
We will certainly miss Aunt Meland, but we take comfort in knowing that she is in sweet fellowship with Jesus, and that she is experiencing no more pain or sorrow. My sister Kim and the two of us will forever be grateful and thankful to her (and Valerie) for all that she did for us when our dad (Uncle Gummy) passed away unexpectedly in 2008 - she truly put 'family first' in all that she did and said. We'll miss seeing and talking with her at the extended family gatherings!
