Michael Howard Fry, 69, of Cypress, Texas, passed away on August 17, 2025. Born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, on June 4, 1956, Mike was the oldest of four children born to Howard and Wilma Fry. His life was one of movement, music, resilience, and unwavering love for his family.
Throughout his childhood, Mike’s family moved frequently across Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois, ultimately returning to Hoxie, Arkansas, where he completed high school. These early years shaped his adaptable nature and gave him the ability to form connections wherever he went.
Mike married Kay Segraves, and together they had one daughter, Jennifer. After their separation, he married Kathy Rouse and welcomed three daughters: Brandy, Amber, and Amy. Later in life, he met and married Dana Fiery, the love of his life. Together, they raised their son, Christopher, and shared 27 years of marriage until Dana’s passing in 2019. After her death, Dana’s sisters, Denise Arnold and Dawn DeBolt were a great source of love and strength, forming a lasting bond with Mike that meant a great deal to him.
Mike’s work life was marked by determination and dedication. He spent many years in the trucking industry, driving for Werner, OTRX, and JB Hunt, hauling goods across the country. He eventually came off the road in 2008, choosing to stay closer to home and work locally with Coca-Cola until his retirement in 2022.
A passionate music lover, Mike had a lifelong connection to music — collecting vinyl and CDs, playing guitar, and performing in bands during his younger years. Music remained a constant joy throughout his life, whether he was playing at home or traveling with friends to enjoy live performances.
After retirement, Mike devoted his time to the people he loved. He traveled regularly between Texas and Arkansas to spend time with his mother, children, grandchildren, and brothers. He will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, generous heart, and steadfast presence in the lives of those he loved.
Mike is survived by his children: Christopher Fry, Jennifer Fry, Brandy Carroll, Amber Bishop, and Amy Cox; six grandchildren; his mother, Wilma Fry; and his brothers, Manuel Fry and Mark Fry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dana Fry; his father, Howard Fry; his sister, Michelle Miller; his niece, Jessica Cissell; and his grandson, Brandon Rouse.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that, if you are able, you consider donating to one of the charities listed below. Your support will help ensure that children continue to have access to music education and that schools are equipped with instruments, grants, and resources.
The family also invites friends and loved ones to honor Mike’s memory in a way that reflects his spirit—by listening to a favorite song, sharing a cherished memory, or simply spending time with those you love, just as he always did.
