Michael Edward Manny was born in Elkhart, Indiana on January 11, 1959, to Manvel Wayne Manny and Kaete Hedwig Schmidt Manny, and passed from this life at his home in Katy, Texas on June 30, 2016. Michael was the Marketing Director for the Regal Cinemas’ Edwards Marquee Theater for the past 15-years. “Mr. Manny” was “the hardest working man in show business.”
Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his widow, Alma Dahlia Manny, one stepson, Erik Lee Everett, and his wife Elizabeth, and a step-granddaughter, Alexis; a younger brother, Stephen Manny, and a much younger sister, Michelle Soule (SOO-lay), and nephew, Donald Loren Soule, III, and his beloved sister-in-law, Janie Montgomery; myriad nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved fur-babies, Precious, Darwin, Little Lady, Toughy, Midnight, and Smokey. Michael was a beloved husband, step-father, brother, and neighbor, as well as a doting mentor to his other family at the Edwards Marquee Theater.
Michael touched many lives with his kindest, wit, and trademark faux-grumpiness. In his honor and memory, The Zone/Space City’s Sci-Fan Film Race and Film Festival will annually bestow the “Michael E. Manny Award for Science Fiction Short Film,” and the Edwards Marquee Theater will designate the “Michael E. Manny Free Comic Book Day” each year.
Contrary to his wishes to “bury me in the back with the cats,” Mr. Manny’s cremated ashes will be given into the care of his family.
