Michon Christopher, son of Prince Jr and Charlotte Wooten Poole, was born on February 7, 1974, in Houston, Texas. Always a cheerful baby, was soon a terror around the house. He bothered everything, including pots and pans in the cabinet and washing his hair in the commode. His parents had to watch him night and day.
Curiosity and a sense of adventure were his two best friends. One morning, around one AM, he climbed out of his crib and attempted to climb the dresser. Unfortunately, a pair of scissors and an old black and white television on top awaited Pasty Face (his nickname). It was off to the emergency room. Two inconsolable parents, crying their eyes out, got lost in their own neighborhood while trying to find a emergency room. But that did not stop Pasty. He was done with climbing. He eventually dismantled his crib and learned how to swing open the side panel of his crib like a gate. Imagine his parents’ surprise the first time they saw him do that.
His Christian education began at Blessed Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the Wallisville Gardens community. Michon was baptized by The Reverend Doctor Jesse Green in 1982. While at The Hope, he participated in various activities, including the choir, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and junior deacons. He looked forward to the church picnic at San Jacinto Park and especially Deussen Park. He and his friends grumbled when Easter speeches were handed out, but they loved to show off their acting skills in the plays that Sister Celest Lilly wrote, especially during Black History month.
Michon attended Tice Elementary School and Cunningham Middle School. He was a 1992 graduate of North Shore High School where he and his friends were known for their antics, cajoling, and teasing of each other and innocent bystanders. Being grounded right up to the end of his senior year seemed to be his favorite activity. Yet he maintained an excellent academic record and was enrolled in several advanced placement classes.
Enrolling at Southern Methodist University in Dallas was a new opportunity for Michon. He missed H-town,but soon acquired more friends and interests. He became a member of Nu Beta chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and majored in Radio TV Communications. He graduated in 1996. SMU prepared him with a wealth of skills in the communications world. He held several DOTCOM jobs. He became a member of
the Free and Accepted Masons, Cherubim Lodge in Dallas. At the time of his passing, he was a business manager with Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Getting away from it all, he and his hunting buddies loved to spend the weekends on White Rock Creek in Houston County where he could visit his cousins and
grandparents, Otis and Elois Wooten. He and his Uncle Carl Poole loved deep sea fishing. Michon was a happy heart with close friends and relatives too numerous to name. But he was haunted by the death of his father which threw a dark cloud over his happy heart occasionally. That is what happens when justice is denied. He would give you the shirt off his back. A gentle soul gone home.
With his sudden departure, many are left to mourn including: mother, Charlotte; uncles Don and Carl; great aunts, Joyce, Gloria, Sweet; aunts, Ava, Jacqueline, Sharon, Anita; sister, Shanda. Predeceased by: grandparents, Seannetta, Doris, Prince Sr, Elois, and Otis; Auntie Vera; uncles, Barry, Vernon, Michael.
