

Later in life she moved to Texas where she and her husband, Amos Jones, Sr. would raise their 13 children (8 girls and 5 boys).
Mildred was a devoted member of Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church and an active member of the Unity Guild. She was blessed to have many good friends, among them were Sis. Thelma Herbert and Sis. Pearlie Oliver. Two ladies with whom she shared a special bond; they were the three musketeers.
She worked for many years at Able Supply Company and then at Rice University. While at Rice University she formed a lasting friendship with Professor Frank Jones where their love for God was evident and lived.
Cherishing her memory: two siblings, Mary Portley and Margaret Jones; six daughters, Deborah Dorsey, Marilyn Owens (Freddie), Betty Brooks (Curtis), Patsy Jones-Jackson (Benny), Clara Craddock, and Sandra Gates (Ricky); three sons Michael Jones, Amos Jones, Jr., and Walter Jones; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother: Aaron Boudreaux, Sr., daughters: Carolyn Jones and Nancy Jones, and sons: Anthony Jones and Andy Jones.
A visitation for Mildred will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM. A committal service will occur Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
