Milford Harry Arnold, Jr., 88, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 8:51 a.m. He was born on June 29, 1937, in Longview, Texas, in the home of his grandparents James and Bessie Arnold, to Milford H. Arnold and Edith L. (Nichols) Arnold. From day one, he was surrounded by family, and that’s how he lived.
At just 17, Milford enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 22, 1954. He trained in radio and telegraph communications — especially Morse code — from March to September 1955, served on active duty during the Korean War era, and was honorably discharged on January 10, 1958, after 4 years, 3 months, and 30 days of faithful service. He was proud to be a Marine, and the discipline and patriotism he learned there stayed with him all his life.
On March 26, 1960, he married the love of his life, Sandra Lee (Seeley) Arnold. For 65 years they walked side by side. Together they built a home where faith was not just talked about — it was practiced. Milford made sure his boys were raised in church and that they knew about God. He believed a father’s job was to point his children to the Lord, and he did. That quiet, steady faith ran underneath everything else he did.
Some of Milford and Sandra’s favorite memories were vacations in Cozumel — just the two of them, relaxing, laughing, enjoying the ocean and one another. He loved being a husband. He missed Sandra deeply after she passed, and it brings the family peace to know they are together again.
Milford was gifted with a sharp mind. After getting married, he worked as an accountant for Gulf Forge Company and Austral Oil & Gas. As computers began to change business, he didn’t get left behind — he learned. He attended schools in Rochester, New York, and Atlanta, Georgia, where he studied early programming languages like Assembly, FORTRAN, PL/1, COBOL, and RPG. He went on to serve as Chief Information Officer at Mosbacher Production Company for seven years and later worked at American Exploration as a software developer and operations supervisor. He could take something complicated and make it work.
But if you asked him what mattered most, he wouldn’t say “computers.” He’d say family.
He was a giver. If someone in the family needed help, he helped. If a friend needed a hand, he was there. He didn’t have to be asked twice. His generosity was steady, not flashy — the kind that pays a bill, fills a tank, buys the school clothes, or says, “Don’t worry about it.”
He also loved the outdoors and hunting with his good friend Roger L. Mills. For them, those trips were never just about the deer — they were about friendship. From the second floor of “the Porch,” they talked, laughed, swapped stories, played pool, drank a cold beer, and (at least for that afternoon) solved the world’s problems. Later, the two of them formed a limited liability partnership, A & M Industries — one more example of how Milford liked building things with people he trusted. Even after he “retired,” he didn’t stop working. After his business venture with Roger, he went to work for the United States Postal Service and stayed 13 more years, finally retiring for good in 2020. He just liked being useful.
Milford was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sandra Lee Arnold, and by his sister Sandy Arnold Fryer.
He is survived by his sisters Christine Young and Janette Mack; his brothers Bill Arnold and Ron Arnold; his sons Mitchell Wayne Arnold and Ronald Dale Arnold; his granddaughters Serena Michelle Bourgeois and Ashley Nicole Wooten; and his great-grandson “Lil Andy,” son of Ashley and Andy John Wooten.
He was proud of his family — every generation of them. He loved to brag on his sons, his granddaughters, and especially that great-grandbaby.
Milford’s life was marked by four things: faith, family, service, and generosity. He served his country. He provided for his family. He loved his wife. He kept learning. He gave when he saw a need. And he made sure his children knew the most important thing of all — who God is.
A life well lived. A family well loved.
