On January 23, 1940, Cal James Jackson was born to the late Sherman and Mildred Jackson in Big Bend, Louisiana. He was the 8th child of nine siblings. "Bulitt", as he was affectionately known, attended school in the Church house of Antioch Baptist Church, in Rexmere, LA. There at a very early age he was baptized by the late Rev. W.J. Parker. Growing up in the country, Cal learned many things from his humble beginnings, such as: how to till a garden, canning and preserving, cooking from scratch and a love of all animals....especially horses. About the age of 13, the family moved to Alexandria, LA. As a young man, he soon moved with his brother to Houston, TX. Here he tried his hand at different occupations, such as a garbage truck driver, a meat cutter and an 18-wheeler truck driver. He even played baseball, as a Catcher for the Houston Sluggers. But nothing gave him more pleasure than driving those 18-wheelers. In 2002 he finally retired from Werner Enterprise, located in Omaha, Nebraska. After which some time later he married Vivian Jones. While in Houston, in his early, young years, Cal met and married the late Louise L. Aldredge. To this union, 3 children were born. They later divorced. Some time after, Cal met and married the late Katherine Sturns. This union lasted some 30 plus years and to it, 5 children were born. It was during this union that he learned about Almighty God, Jehovah and the resurrection hope, spoken of at John 5:28,29. Even though Cal was not a regular attendee in a religious setting, he regularly prayed to Jehovah, that he would be blessed to be at a time in the future, where he could see his dead loved ones again. This hope he held dearly until his untimely death on September 18, 2015. He is preceded in death by his sisters: LeeAnna Franklin and Retha Barker; 5 brothers: Sherman Jackson Jr., Andrew Jackson, Evans Jackson, Earl Jackson and Harry Jackson; 2 nephews: Sherman Wilson and Charles Franklin; and his grandson: Julius "Ray-Ray" Jackson.
