Jake Jarmon Jr began his earthly journey May 21, 1949 in La Grange, TX. His proud parents were Norma Lee and Jake Jarmon Sr and he was lovingly called “Baby Jr”. Baby Jr’s early years were spent primarily on Norma’s Grandfather’s (Jim East) farm. Several of Great Grandpa Jim’s sons lived in homes with their families on the East Farm allowing Baby Jr to grow up surrounded by a large cluster of East Uncles, Aunts and Cousins. Maternal Grandparents Frank and Amelia East (Papa and Mama) house on this farm was home for “Baby Jr” during his formative years. Summer always included city cousins visiting. Cousin Billy led Jake and other cousins on many never spoken of bare foot adventures. Baby Jr’s childhood was spent doing chores, playing marbles, roaming along and in Rocky Creek, riding horses, hunting, eating from peach and plum orchards and bursting watermelons in the field. Survival and how to be a man was taught by Papa in both word and example. Baby Jr learned the value of family bonds, hard work, taking care of what is yours and standing up for what is right by Papa’s example. Baby Jr’s formal education began at Randolph High School in LaGrange, TX. His Christian journey began at Gay Hill Baptist Church in LaGrange, TX. When Baby Jr arrived in the city, he insisted everyone call him Jake as “Baby Jr” was not a name for a man. Jake did not mince words. Jeremiah 29:11: I know the plans I have for you declared the Lord…. A broken mailbox led Jake to the plans the Lord had for him. Plans that resulted in Jake becoming a father, husband, successful businessman, and the most doting grandfather. Being a grandfather was one of Jake’s most cherished roles. A while after repairing the broken mailbox of Barbara and her preparing him a delicious meal, on March 3, 2001, Jake and Barbara united in Holy Matrimony. Together they grew an everlasting love that included traveling to places near and far and enjoying time spent with family and friends. All who knew Jake were proud to see Jake choose the Lord’s path. Jake was loved and appreciated by his family and friends. Jake believed hard work, being a man of your word and taking care of family was a man’s duty. Family far and near won’t forget Jake’s regular visiting schedule. Jake’s family will always remember the love he had for them and the willingness he possessed to be available whenever needed. Sunday Morning Feb 3, 2019; our family sadly said goodbye to Jake and he began his eternal journey. Jake will be greatly missed and long remembered by Wife Barbara; Sons: Gary, Ronnie (Coretta) and Bo; Daughter: Nina (Charles); Grandsons: Brandon, Joshua Francois (Christy) Gary Jr, RJ, Xavier and Logan; Granddaughter Lauren; Sisters: Lucille Inez Perkins, Gladys Brown (Glen) Mary Cargile (Joe) and Charlotte Higgins; Brother Robert (Denise); Aunt Lillie Mae Hogan (Dallas, TX) and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
