Mrs. Rosie Velton Presley

Rosie (Baby) Sanders Presley was born June 1, 1929, in Caddo Parish, Louisiana to James Sanders and Rosa V Johns Sanders. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age, worshiping at Lane Chapel CME Church in Shreveport, Louisiana and later at Payne Chapel AME church in Houston Texas. She met and married John Peter Presley and to this union was born 8 children. She relocated to Houston, Texas with her family, where she established a loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren. She had great faith in God, and she shared it with her children. She always put other’s needs before her own and was a fountain of strength and love for her family. She found joy in cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was "Mama". Rosie was preceded in death by her father, James Sanders, mother Rosa Metcalf, husband John, daughter Marilyn Hines, grandson Terry Hines, brothers, Albert Sanders, Brusher Sanders, Wilbur Metcalf, sisters Mary Raspberry & Helen Blackmon, (5) sisters-in-law & (4) brothers-in-law. She leaves to cherish her memory, (3) daughters, Sandra Presley, Carolyn Presley Stafford (Frank), Lela Brooks (Ronald); (4) sons, James Ray Presley, Maurice Presley, Parker T. Presley & Keith Presley (Tanga), (2) sisters, Marie Sanders & Sophie Moore, (4) brothers, Timothy Metcalf (Deloris), Milton Metcalf (Harese), Manuel Metcalf Jr & John Metcalf; sisters in-law, Eliza P Martin & Isabel Sanders; (32) grandchildren, (38) great-grandchildren (4) great great-grandchildren, cherished friend Mrs. Johnnie Faye Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
