Sandra Patricia Sweetnam was born August 2, 1940 in Mitcham Surrey England. She was the middle child of three children – two girls named Lanetta & Sandra, and one boy named Colin. Sandra learned a trade as a young lady and became a certified telephone operator. At 17 years old, she met and fell in love with a 19 year old Saint Lucian musician named David Sweetnam. They were soon married June 28, 1958 and had their first son, Anthony. Her life as a young mother and a wife of a musician led to four years of travel-ling all over Europe, from Berlin to Rome. Sandra worked as a telephone operator and David worked as a bookkeeper. They con-tinued to live in a small and modest home located in southwest London called Tooting. In December of 1962, they had another son and named him Gary Stephen Sweetnam. Both Sandra and David worked in England the following 10 years raising their two sons as best they could. They decided they wanted a better life, so in 1970, Sandra’s father, Colin Jones, offered David & Sandra the opportunity to own their own business in Saint Lucia. The Sweetnam family then moved to the small tropical island of Saint Lucia which is located in the Caribbean. Sandra then joined forces with David to operate their own business called Colton Enterprises which later progressed to a successful carpet cleaning and soft furnishings business renamed to Mr. Colton. Sandra spent the follow-ing 40 years as a homemaker and administrative support for business. In 1990, Sandra began travelling to the United States to visit and spend time with her grandchildren for two months out of the year, each year. Upon the news of an upcoming birth of a great grandchild, she decided to stay and offer her support for helping her granddaughter through motherhood. Two days after Sandra’s birthday, her great grand-daughter, London Karter, was born August 4, 2011. Sandra received her into her arms with love and constant dedication. She appeared always to revolve her life around Lon-don and London loved her "Nanny." All of the changing family dynamics made situa-tions very difficult at times, however Sandra’s love and kind hearted nature was always a constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren. In 2010, Sandra gave her life to Christ at the Fountain of Praise. It was a heartfelt occa-sion for her son, Gary and the rest of the Sweetnam family to experience her ac-ceptance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 2013, Sandra was diagnosed with a low-grade cancer of the kidney. She received treatment and the Lord saw fit to grant her an extension on life. In the beginning of 2016, she was misdiagnosed with COPD. It was later discovered that Sandra had an aggressive form of lung cancer which ultimately claimed her life on October 12, 2016. Sandra leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband David Sweetnam, two sons Tony and Gary Sweetnam, her daughter-in-law Danita Sweetnam, her brother Colin Jones and sister Lanetta Walcott, her granddaughters Ariana Marshall, Brittany and Ayanna Sweetnam, and her precious great granddaughter London Karter Borom Sweetnam.
