

Nancy Rakestraw Burchfield, 58, was welcomed into heaven on September 27, 2013 in Houston, TX. Nancy was born in Oklahoma City, OK. She retired from Bury + Partners-Houston due to her illness. She fought a courageous 6 ½ year battle with colon cancer, and always had a beautiful smile on her face and never complained. She was a tremendous encouragement to many that were on similar journeys.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Perry Lee Rakestraw, and brother, Perry Clyde Rakestraw. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Randy Burchfield, daughter Dana Gray and husband Scott of McPherson, Kansas, daughter Janie Higgins and husband Seth of Houston, and granddaughter Cami Gray. She is also survived by her mother Cledia Rakestraw of Mustang, OK, brothers Darrell Rakestraw of Oklahoma City, Tony Rakestraw of Yukon, OK, Dan Rakestraw and wife Donna of Norman, OK, sister Sharon Winchester and husband Robbie of Oklahoma City, sister Ima Greenfield and husband Paul of Kyle, TX, brother-in-law Paul Burchfield and wife Yvonne of Houston, TX, sister-in-law Janelle Wagner of Conroe, TX, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Nancy had an inexplicable ability to spread hope and joy to those around her. Through adversity, she lived each day in His light, as most of us can only aspire to. She was a true angel amongst us and we are blessed to have called her wife, mom, daughter, friend. Her light will shine within us forever, and we look forward to the day she greets us in heaven.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024.The memorial service will be held at Houston’s First Baptist Church chapel, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024 Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by a brief graveside service at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, Houston, TX.
