
Nancy Fogleman Coffee died peacefully in Houston on 7 December 2024 with family members at her bedside. She was born on 7 April 1931 in Burlington, North Carolina, the daughter of Leita Spencer and Bumpus Surratt. She grew up with seven brothers and sisters (Hope, Beaumont, Quentin, Priscilla, Mary Ruth, Betsy, and David), all of whom preceded her in death. Nancy married Robert Bruce Fogleman and had four boys (Quentin, Victor, Robbie, and Aaron). Throughout her life she was a devoted member of first the United Methodist and then the Southern Baptist Church.
Nancy attended Burlington Business College to learn secretarial and office work, which she pursued for the rest of her working life, beginning in Burlington with Western Electric and then the federal government. In 1964 she remarried and moved a year later to Stillwater, Oklahoma. Here and later in Joliet, Illinois and Glasgow AFB, Montana she worked for numerous firms and government agencies and sold real estate. She moved to Houston in 1982 and remained there the rest of her life, selling real estate and working for Chevron and Halliburton.
In addition to being a highly valued secretary office administrator, Nancy was accomplished at singing in church, playing the organ, refinishing antique furniture, maintaining old houses, and writing family stories. She loved impressionist artwork, ballroom dancing, good (old) movies, and being with her family. She is survived by her four boys and their wives (Blanca, Sheila, and Vera), eight grandchildren (Leslie, Sarah, Rachel, Garrett, Alyssa, Spencer, Noah, and Lucas), and seven great grandchildren (Rebekkah, Hannah, Zoey, Georgie, Olivia, Penelope, and Spencer).
