Nancy graduated from Des Arc High School and then followed her older brother, Clay, to attend and graduate from LSU. She moved to Houston to work at Ben Taub hospital as a dietician. She joined St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where she met women who would travel the world with her and become her lifelong friends. She also met her husband, Alton. Although it was not the world’s best first impression, they created a wonderful life together. She continued her work at Ben Taub until she became the world’s greatest mom. Nancy dedicated her life to raising her two girls - a job she was created for. She was an accomplished quilter and played golf and bridge regularly. She was a long-time member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Emmett Laban Hinson and Dorothy Atkins Hinson, her brothers Clay Hinson and Billy Hinson, and her husband of nearly 45 years, R. Alton Milrany. She is survived by her daughters, Meredith Smouse and husband Jason, and Michelle Taylor and husband Michael. She is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Ellison, Mackenzie, and Emery.
