Nancy Elizabeth Price was born December 28, 1936, to Margaret (Jones) McQueen and Matthew McQueen in Chester, Polk County, Texas, the seventh of eight children. She graduated from the Chester Negro High School in 1955.
She regularly attended the Palestine Baptist Church as a youth where her Christian formation began.
She married Max Clyde Price of Belgrade, Newton County, Texas on December 28, 1962. Although they had no children of their own, Max and Nancy raised two of her brother’s children, Arthur and Will, as their own.
Nancy was very active in church throughout her life, supporting her husband in his assigned pastoral duties in the Christ Holy Sanctified Church that required regular long weekend travels. She was not just active in the church; she loved the Lord and the church body which showed in every aspect of her life. She sang in the church’s district and national choirs, organized church special events, led church departments, and was a role model of what a disciple of Christ should look like. If there was a need, she was there. She was especially interested in the development of the women and children of the church and was a mother, aunt, sister and confidant to many. This was the visible part of faith. What many did not see was the many hours behind the scenes where she prayed and studied vigorously.
Nancy was known for her deep care and concern for all those near her and gave her wisdom and advice freely and directly. You never had to wonder what she meant or what was expected. She was also known for her stylish hats that she loved to wear.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Kara Vernon McQueen, Algie McQueen, Sr., Irvin Matthew McQueen, and sisters Bessie Mae Griffin, Ora Lee Wright, Doris White, Lula Mae McQueen and Lovie Evelyn Delois McQueen. She leaves to cherish the memories of her life, her husband of 63 years, her nephew Arthur, loved as a son, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, 2:30 pm at Paradise Funeral Home Chapel, 10401 W. Montgomery, Houston TX 77088. Family will receive friends 1:30pm until time of service.
