Nellie Kieke Kress

Nellie was born in Burton, TX to M. F. Kieke and Mattie Vernon Kieke on July 22, 1941. She attended school in Giddings, Texas and received a Bachelor of Art degree from University of Texas in Austin and a Masters from Steven F Austin in Nacogdoches, TX. After her retirement as a middle school teacher in Alief ISD, she pursued her passion as a watercolorist and was a member of the Watercolor Society of Houston and was past President of the Art League of Fort Bend.

On April 2, 1985, Nellie was married to Ervin Hester and enjoyed 40+ years of a wonderful marriage.

Nellie was proceeded in death by her mother and father and also her sister, Becky Kieke Long, and niece Susan Tate.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ervin Hester, her sister, Twila Tate and husband, Milton (Buddy), Her brother-in-law Robert Hester (Bob and wife Sue) and sons Craig Hester (wife Sherri Schmidt), David Hester (wife Andrea Hester), and her loving grandchildren: Kendall (Kenny) Hester, Sasha Hester Ballard,(husband David Ballard) and Claire Hester. Nellie is also survived by her nieces Rebecca Ehlert and Rachel Cangelosi and many grand-nieces, nephews and two grand-grand nieces.

A committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Giddings City Cemetery located at 900 W. Austin St
