She grew up in a loving household based on Christian principles that were instilled in her from a very young age. She came to the US in 1981 where she quickly started a family. She gave birth to 3 boys, Chukwuma, Chinedu and Ikenna before having a girl, Ogechukwu. While balancing family life, she continued to pursue a career in Education that she had started before leaving Nigeria. She graduated from Emmanuel College in 1987 with a BA in Education and from Wheelock College with a Masters of Science in 1997. She also received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Administration from UMass Boston in 2002. She spent nearly 10 years working as a teacher with special needs kids in the Boston Public School system.
In 2006 she made the decision to move and relocate to Arlington, TX. Despite the circumstances surrounding that decision, she believed God was in control and had a plan through it all. During what would turn out to be the last few years of her life she developed a network of friends who were blessed by her kindness and generosity.
Anyone who knew my mom knew she loved her kids. Those who were fortunate enough to know her really well also knew that she was a prayer warrior and an intercessor. They knew her love for God was pure and her commitment to serve The Lord faithfully never wavered despite what life handed to her.
Our mother may be gone but she will never be forgotten. Mommy, you have run your race and received your crown. We thank God for your time here on earth. Our hearts are comforted knowing that you are resting in God’s perfect peace. As you so often said, “It is well!”
