Norman was born on July 10, 1957 in Topeka, Kansas. He grew up in Fountain Valley, California and attended Los Amigos High and Orange Coast College.
He joined the United States Air Force on August 21, 1978 and was discharged May 18, 1982 after serving as an Airman E2 and Aircraft Mechanic. He fluently spoke English, Spanish, Japanese, Italian and German.
Norman was Honorably Discharged from the US Air Force following a tragic aircraft explosion that left him with severe head injury which led to an early onset of Parkinson's Disease. During his time in the military he received presidential honors.
On April 25th at 9:51 am, Norman succumbed to those injuries falling peacefully asleep in death while surrounded by his wife and beloved family members.
His stepson JT states:
"Norman sure loved his “zoom-zoom’s and wam-wam’s”. I would have no problem making sure my Step-Father enjoyed his stay with us. I cannot complain, yet Mr. Norman could easily forget at times that his walking was limited because of the Parkinson Disease. This would result in me or my dear mother his wife Batavia Lee helping him up from the seemingly comfortable carpet after an incident tailored for Norman.I appreciate the time he spent out of love to give advice or recall a song he’d written and sold. Most of all I appreciated his ability not to forget his family!
Norman enjoyed watching Sci-Fi and Horror Movies.
He is survived by his spouse, Batavia M. Lee; parents, Mr. Larry and Mrs. Mary Eaton; step-children, Julius "JT" Tatum II, Bakari, Misty, and Tai Thomas; grandchildren, Nehemiah "Nemo" Milton, Kai, Ari, Zy'Riel, and Taylor "TJ"; siblings, Elaina Denise Richards; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Stubbs.
Services are to be held at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas on May 18th at 12:30 PM.
"A Brighter State of Blue"
Goodbye my friend, It's time you leave this world. Time to open up your heart and let your life unfold.
There comes a time a man must face the fire. When life has brought him lows and his aim was higher. God stands in judgement of the deeds of every man and Jesus is forever, forgiveness was his plan. All to sow a sky forever burning blue. Stay with me in Spirit. That's how I'll forever remember you! Goodbye My Friend. Time to Let you leave this world. Open up your heart and let your life unfold. You fought the good fight...and you paid your dues. We will miss you very much no one can ever fill your shoes. A Brighter State of Blue!
Rest In Peace - Norman Lee
