Patricia Ann McGinnis passed away August 17, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born in Pasadena, California, on September 27, 1928, to Marjorie (Andrews) and John Fulton. Pat attended nursing school at UCLA and then transferred to Colorado College in Colorado Springs, where she met the "love of her life," Bob ("Whitey") McGinnis. They married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colorado Springs on August 27, 1951, and moved shortly thereafter to Texas. They lived in Kingsville, Corpus Christi, Midland, Dallas, and Houston, developing cherished friendships in each place. Pat had many interests and traveled a great deal -- the mountains of Colorado and the beaches of Padre Island and Corpus Christi were her favorite spots -- but she was never happier than when at home with Bob, their children, and their many visitors. She loved entertaining and enjoyed all kinds of people; she often quoted "The Golden Rule" and lived by the principles of faith, hope, and charity. Bob and Pat celebrated 61 years of marriage, and their devotion to each other and to their family serves as inspiration to all who know them.
Pat is survived by her loving husband Bob, their eight children, nineteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren: John and his wife Becky (Kara and Kathryn); Bill and his wife Lori (Will and Mike); Cathy and her husband Rusty Hicks (Sara, Jena and husband Kyle Cordell, and Jessi); Jim and his wife Terri (Ryan); Joe and his wife Michelle (Megan and husband Juston Wilson, Kelly, Kevin, and David); Beth and her husband James Young (Jason and wife Jovana and their children Jordan, Jaylynn, and Jaeden, Russell and wife Katie, Robert, Sean, and Marshall); Tom and his wife Stephanie (Kendall and Matt); and Shelley and her partner Debbie Newman. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Dorothie Sterling and Marge Fulton. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Marjorie and John Fulton, stepmother Wrennie, siblings Robert Fulton, Joan Fulton, and Sarah Gulick, and treasured son Mike McGinnis.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, August 24, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church (11720 Joan of Arc). The family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends make a contribution to the charity of their choice.
