Patsy earned a scholarship to Texas Lutheran College, where she studied for a few years prior to beginning what turned out to be a highly successful, life-long banking career. She moved to St. Martinville, Louisiana in the early 80’s where she was a VP providing financial consulting, while overseeing construction of a beautiful retirement home on the Bayou Teche. Spending time with family would be Patsy’s number one priority. If you knew Patsy, you know that she absolutely loved to sew and was an avid quilter. Over the years, she made multiple personalized quilts for Roesler and Breaux family members. She would light up with just a mention of sewing or quilting! She had a passion for teaching others to sew and/or quilt. Most recently, she shared her creative ability with her wonderful caregivers. Patsy was a blessing to many by giving her time and energy for multiple organizations and causes. She volunteered for the Teche Literacy Project where she taught adults how to read, started the Epilepsy Association in Houston, provided community support as President of St. Martin Parish Homemaker Council as well as with the Beta Rho Society, supported a ‘Relay for Life’ for the American Cancer Society, and was involved in fundraising for Alzheimer’s Associations. Patsy worked for the St. Martinville Sheriff's department where she consulted with individuals, their families and provided education to both small & large groups on Alzheimer's care. Through the years, she loved to go boating, water skiing, camping in the motor home, listening to country music, and often you’d probably see her enjoying some fried catfish! She was a devout Lutheran and cherished her home church, Advent Lutheran Church in Houston. For many years, she attended St. James Lutheran Church also in Houston, and First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Patsy had two loves in her life. She married Ronald Dean Burchfield in 1962 and they were blessed with two wonderful children, Wayde and Rhonda. She married Bernard Dessens Breaux Sr. in 1969 and celebrated a 52-year wedding anniversary in 2021. Ron and Ben preceded her in death, along with stepchild, Gina Breaux, sister Mary Amburn, and her parents. She is survived by sister, Betty Louis; brother Matt Roesler and his wife, Judy; brother, Charles (Charlie) Roesler and his wife Magdalene; son, Dennis Wayde Burchfield and his wife, Tamara; daughter, Rhonda Mabry and her husband, Dewayne; stepchildren, Stacia Breaux and Bernard Breaux Jr. and his wife Sharlett; grandchildren, Brandon Mabry, Kylee Burchfield, Lauren Burchfield, and Bethany Mabry; Godchild, Kirsten Phillips.
