

Peggy was born on July 5, 1934 to Marvin Donald Craft and Goldie Mae Chapman Craft in Bishop, Texas. She grew up in Corpus Christi, and eventually marrying the love of her life in the fall of 1952. Peggy and Phil have been inseparable ever since then spending most of their lives in Houston, Texas staying involved with church activities, hosting dinner parties, and playing bridge with their friends well into the night. Peggy was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Peggy took great delight in her family raising three beautiful daughters and enjoying seeing her grandsons grow up from tiny babies to be strong young men. Grandma will forever be missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Phil McGowan, Jr.; her daughters, Elizabeth A. Zajicek; Nancy L. Bush and husband John Bush; Julie M. Durham and husband Steve Durham; grandsons Taylor Bush, Josh Durham (Kaitlyn), and Drew Durham. She is also survived by niece Leslie Hengst; great-niece, Jaime Young and daughter, Micayla Sneed; great-niece, Chelsea Lafuente (Freddy) and children Brodie Huth, Pyper Huth and Nicolette Lafuente. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Goldie Craft; her sister, Virginia Sue Riggs; son in law Mickey Zajicek and her great-grand-nephew, Logan Huth.
Due to Covid-19, Mrs. McGowan will be buried in a private ceremony.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Gardens of Bellaire for their faithful care during the past 3 years and the compassionate staff from Bluebonnet Hospice. A very special thank you to caregivers Vivica Young, Evonne Duncan, Mabel Lindsey, and Regina Butler, who treated Peggy like their own Mom.
