

Phebe Chan was born August 16, 1947 in Canton, China to Andrew and Lai Chun Chung Lee. She grew up in Hong Kong where she taught at Pui Ching Middle School. She married George Chan on July 6, 1967 and then moved to the United States shortly thereafter. She has been a long time resident of Houston and was a founding member of the Houston Chinese Church. In her later years, she attended Sugar Creek Baptist Church. A devoted Christian who believed in evangelism and discipleship, she brought many people to Christ and helped them grow in their faith. As a travel agent she won multiple awards in her field. Phebe enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was described as a friend to all.
Phebe Chan was preceded in death by her parents, and older brother Hung Lee. She leaves a loving husband of 54 years, George Chan; daughter, Deborah Fung and husband Sanford; and son Timothy Chan. She is survived by grandchildren Kelli Chan, Austin Chan, Cecelya Fung, Camylle Fung, and Cozytte Fung. Phebe also has siblings sister Eliza Leung and husband Arran; brother Sinbad Lee; sister Annie Pang and husband Kam; sister Angela Poon and husband Ronnie; sister Mary Lock and husband Kin; sister-in-law Sui Koon Ho Lee and many more family and friends.
Phebe was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
A memorial service will be held at 5pm Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Fort Bend Community Church, 7707 Highway 6, Missouri City, TX 77459.
