Phillip (Phil) Lester Wood passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022 in Houston, Texas with his family at his side. Phil was born on March 14, 1947 in Libby, Montana to George and Dorothy Wood. He received a bachelor's degree in Business from Eastern Washington State College. He worked as a business manager for several construction projections within the Unites States and overseas during his 40+ year career. His two most notable projects were his work on the north slope of the Alaskan Pipeline and the airport in Grenada, West Indies. During his time in Grenada, Phil met his wife, Mary. They spent their life traveling together, which included his favorite place, Barbados, where he proposed to Mary. They had two children: Devon Wood (deceased) and Hidi Criswell of Cypress, Texas.
Throughout his career in the construction industry, he met many friends along the way. Many of the friends he met in construction were away from their families for most of the year and during the holidays. Phillip would often include people who he knew was going to be alone for the holidays to come to his house to be with his family.
Family vacations often included visiting family in friends in Montana, Idaho, and Grenada. In Montana, he would visit his brothers and their families: Keith and Nancy Wood of Helena, Montana and George and Glenda Wood of Libby, Montana. In Idaho, he would visit his best friends Jim and Doris Smoliniski of Boise, Idaho and their three daughters: Shanna, Lisa and Kara. Phil would travel with his family to Grenada to see his sister-in-law, Sheril Ragbasingh, and niece, Dianne Passee.
Phil had a close relationship with his brother-in-law, Derek Ragbasingh. Derek spent a lot of his time traveling to wherever the family was in Nevada, California, New Mexico, South Carolina, or Atlanta. Phil worked with Derek on construction projects in New Mexico and South Carolina. They spent time watching sports together, fishing, and every year they would color eggs together for Easter.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Hidi; son-in-law, Chad Criswell; brother-in-law, Derek; brothers, Bruce, Keith, and George; friends, Jim and Doris Smolinski, Mike and Susan Kiehnau, Terry and Dorothy Miller, Tom Rath, Kathy and Ronnie Lamson; granddogs, Stella and Cody, and several nieces and nephews.
Phil was a loving father, husband, brother, great friend, and devote Catholic. He did not just take care of his family but also the people he met. He will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have met him.
