

Phyllis Ketcham Martinez, born on August 31, 1934, in Stroud, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, at the age of 89, in Humble, Texas. Known affectionately as Phyllis, she was a cherished member of her community and a beloved figure in her family.
Phyllis was very much like her father, Otto H. Followell, sharing his love for animals. She had a special place in her heart for her cats and dog, always opening her home to a stray in need. Known for her strong will and tough exterior, Phyllis was equally recognized for her loving and kind-hearted nature. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her son Ricky L. Ketcham, daughter Deborah A. Garcia, sister Carolyn J. Price, nephew Mark A. Price, husband Johnny Martinez and her parents Otto H. and Charlotte A. Followell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Curtis Buchanan; grand children, Sheryl Clark, Cindy Clark, Christina Grothe, Wendi Macon, Nicholas and Brian Ketcham; son-in-law, Raymond Olvera; niece and her husband, Dana and Randy Neville; great-niece and family, Cara, Ike, Jude, and Garner Agundez; and great-nephew and family, Jason, Stefani, Aubrey, Coby, Taylor, Faithlynn, and Kinley Neville; a very special friend and family that she adored and loved like her own family, Paul, Jennifer, Conner and Trey Brock and two wonderful caregivers, Denise Songy and Michael Mullenix.
A graveside service will be held at Brookside Memorial Park on Eastex Freeway in Houston, Texas. The Del Angel Funeral Home and Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, Texas, are assisting with the arrangements.
Phyllis Martinez's life was marked by her compassion and resilience, traits that endeared her to many and will be remembered as her lasting legacy.
