

Pilar Galang Mendoza passed away August 31, 2015 at the age of 89. She was born at Philippines General Hospital in Manila, Philippines on December 21, 1925 to Judge Hospicio Ponce Galang and Adelaida Custodio Agravante. Surviving family members include her sisters Apolonia Alagaban and Zenaida Maglalang. Her surviving children are Vivian Dimaunahan, Sylvia Da Silva, Francisco Rodriguez, Eduardo Galang, Carina Fernandez, Bonifacio Galang, Ramon Galang, Chiqui Dimaunahan, Patricia Rodriguez, Darius, Mario, Grace and Nelson Mendoza. Her surviving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren come from the Philippines, Florida, Hawaii, New York, California, Illinois, and Texas.
She was active in two senior citizen groups in Texas. Her hobbies include dancing, playing bingo and mahjong, and cooking favorite Filipino delicacies. She attended the Philippine Women’s University and obtained a degree in Child Development in her pursuit of her dream to become an educator for elementary students. After becoming a teacher, she became a Real Estate Broker, Librarian at the Philippines National Library and as a sales supervisor for an appliance store. In 1982, she immigrated to the United States and became a sales associate at Palace Royal until she retired. She was a devoted Roman Catholic and attended church every Sunday.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at The Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services located at 7010 Chetwood Dr. Houston, TX 77081. The funeral service viewing will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 and begin at 10:00 a.m. and will follow with a mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Albert of Trapani Catholic Church, located at 11207 South Gessner Rd. Interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, located at 12800 Westheimer Rd.
