Rafaela was a full time housewife. She married Nick A. Acosta on January 28, 1956 in Anderson Texas and together raised a family of seven children. Rafaela was a grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She absolutely loved her family.
Her favorite hobby was to crochet. She was a member of the Lakewood Church for 40 years and occasionally joined mission trips to Mexico. Rafaela had strong faith and loved helping people.
Rafaela is survived by, her children, Rita Austin, Nick Acosta Jr., Mark Acosta, Dianne Cole, Victor Acosta, Margaret Acosta, James Acosta; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Earnest Vela. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nick Acosta Sr.; father, Pedro Vela Sr.; Mother, Lucy T. Vela; sisters, Mary Lou Cantu and Delores Garza; brothers, Pete Vela, Jesse Vela, Roy Vela, Israel Vela and Larry Vela.
A visitation for Rafaela will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home located at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM with a burial to occur at 12:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
